About Us:

Shade Street Rod and Custom was opened in the summer of 2010 by Mike Prather and his wife Alicia to fulfill a life long dream of working on cool cars. Mike is a 39 year professional veteran of the auto body industry, starting at sweeping floors to owning his own high volume production body shop. But it didn't start there. Mike grew up around the garage and hot rods, his dad, Don, owned his own upholstery shop and from there went on to upholstering and then restoring high end antique cars, some of which Mike was called on to handle the body and paint work.
With that kind of exposure from childhood to the trim shop it was an easy step to full time upholstery. So now after almost 45 years in the business the time has come for me to close my shop and get back to doing the stuff that made me get into the business in the first place, working on my own hot rods. The shop in Victoria has been closed and we have put up a small garage at my home and now I can get my projects done, I can help my friends once in a while and you're always welcome to stop in. Thanks. Phone is (434) 321-3757 'cause it's always cool on Shade Street.
